This
is the funniest book you'll read about how to manage project, but
it's really not about Project, despite the title.

I
wrote this book and it is supposed to be a book about project management
with some tips about using Microsoft Project and other programs
effectively to manage projects. It is not intended to be a how-to
guide for Microsoft Project from start to finish, although it includes
techniques that I use all the time to manage projects. I am a PMI-certified
Project Management Professional and I manage projects for clients
in many industries. The motivation to write this book came from
the advice I've had to provide to new (and some more experienced)
project managers on many projects.
The
idea is to help people relatively new to project management learn
about the tasks they should perform to manage a project successfully
and how to use Project and other Microsoft programs practically
in those endeavors. For example, some folks break down work into
way too much detail and try to track it all in Project. This book
explains how to figure out how far to break work down and where
to store all the details that don't go into a PRoject schedule.
The
book also includes tips for using Word, Excel, Access, and other
programs in project management tasks. The book was published by
Microsoft Press, hence the reference to Microsoft Project in the
book title. I am sorry if the title is misleading--I can't do anything
about that.

Online
Investing Hacks introduces you to the best web sites for different
investing tasks, describes how to get the most out of online investing
tools, and explains how to create Excel spreadsheets to manage your
investments to meet your unique requirements. Learn how to screen
for stocks, bonds, CDs, and mortgage rates; acquire the data you
want through subscription services, free online data sources, and
by using Excel web queries; use fundamental analysis to invest;
use technical analysis to trade or buy investments at the right
price and time; analyze mutual funds before you buy to add virtually
worry-free investments to your portfolio; execute trades like an
expert; manage your portfolio to improve its performance while reducing
risk; and create financial plans to attain your goals.
Many
of the hacks include spreadsheets that you can customize to fit
your situation. For example, one spreadsheet provides a framework
for determining the proper asset allocation of a portfolio that
will fund multiple goals that occur at different times. By defining
the contributions you plan to make and the allocation you want each
year as goals grow nearer, the spreadsheet calculates the overall
allocation for the entire portfolio.
